Global Guardian's 11th Birthday
Posted on June 12, 2022.
This June we celebrate 11 years of Global Guardians. Last year was a big milestone, with complete rebranding and updating of our website, so this year will be a quieter affair where we reflect on the changes and developments we’ve made this past year.
One of the biggest developments was our rubber-stamped license agreement. In December of 2021, Global Guardians successfully won a court case that means our license agreement can be upheld in the highest court. Previously, the debate has continued about whether a license agreement is simply a disguised tenancy agreement, and whether that means Guardians have the same rights. This has caused issues, namely around the 28-day notice period that is unique to Guardianship. With this legal win, we can assure our clients that their properties will be handed back in due time, and safely answer all queries from our Guardians regarding the legality of the Guardianship model and our license agreement.
We also spent some time figuring out what an ideal guardian looks like, and working on ways to ensure we can provide the highest level of security with the right kinds of people living in and taking care of our properties. Our clients trust us with their buildings, so it’s integral we keep them in safe hands by finding the right guardians.
This year also saw us embed our culture within the team. Our culture and values allow us to make decisions and support our team as best we can. We made it our focus last year and continue to develop how we embed our culture with each passing month. Our ideal team player assessment is constantly evolving as we learn and it’s important to us at Global Guardians that we create an environment where our team can thrive and succeed. Our culture allows us to do that by providing a framework that empowers each team member in making decisions.
Global Guardians is looking into the future. We’re always striving to take on more clients, repurpose more empty buildings and provide affordable homes for current and potential Guardians. What we do is more important than ever as the housing crisis continues to affect people across England and especially in London. We attended housing events and spent a lot of time looking at the industry and what’s being developed and changed. Housing Brighton was eye-opening in terms of our understanding of the wider sector, and Homes UK gave us the opportunity to spread the word about the work we do and the positive impact of Guardianship.
Going into our 12th year, we promise to continue to provide industry-leading guardianship services and develop our team and the work we do.
